Sisterhood

Check out these adorable sisters I got to shoot last week.  Oh My Goodness, I love red heads!  I also love me some curls!  The girls and I hit it off right away and Mom did what I wish all Mom’s would do, stayed inside!  Ha Ha – no seriously – she said you take them and have your way with them.  I think when parents do this, it allows the kids to be themselves – not worrying about what Mom and Dad want them to do.  We had so much fun!  How great are their brown dresses!

Precious in Pink

So I showed up at a house last week and was ecstatic to see this precious little one year old I would be shooting.  We had so much fun and I really enjoyed talking with her Mom and Dad.  Dad you see is a Sooner as well so I knew immediately we would hit it off. Thanks M family for a wonderful morning and sharing your precious little girl with me!

Family Fun!

This is my second year to have the honor of shooting the Cruse family, what a fun and beautiful family.  Here is the link to their pictures from last year.  I am happy to say that Connor is still doing well healthwise!  Praise God!  His Mom’s current post on their website is so insightful and exactly what I needed to read today!  If you have a chance, definitely read it, it will help you learn to appreciate today and stop waiting to ”do” and enjoy your life today!  This year, I was completely blown away with how mature their daughter has become – she is also stunning!

For all you dog lovers!

One photographer that I really admire is the talented Erin Vey of Seattle.  She is the coolest pet photographer out there and I can assure you that every picture I have ever taken of an animal has been inspired by Erin’s work.  She has such an eye for capturing a dog and it’s personality.  She personally has the most beautiful Great Dane named Gracie. Her love for this dog basically jumps out at you in every image she posts.  I tell you all of this, because, she is having an amazing contest and you must check it out. Erin wants to hear your best dog story – how your dogs have made a difference in your life.  She claims no story is to small or simple.  The best part of the contest is the prize.  The winner will get a free session anywhere in the US and a bunch of prints.  I told her that I really hope someone will enter from Dallas or the surrounding area – I would love to hire her to shoot my dogs if she was nearby.

Prayers Please

As many of you know – I frequently donate sessions to kiddos who have special needs or who are sick.  I don’t often blog about them, because when I shoot them, their sessions are not about me – I do not want praise or recognition for shooting them.  I do this solely so that their parents have beautiful images of their children.  The only time I post their pictures, is when I feel called to either increase awareness regarding their disability or illness; or, in this case when a child really needs our prayer.

I know many of my readers believe in the power of prayer, so this is why I write today.  Today – I need your prayer for one very special little girl.  This past spring, after over a year and a half of trying, I was able to shoot Avery Grace Akeman.  Avery was a miracle from day one.  You see her parents had fought infertility for over 5 years and on a last ditch effort they were blessed with their adorable little girl.  Shortly after her premature birth, they noticed that she quit breathing whenever she was fed.  She is now 3 years old and has spent most of her life in the hospital.  She is such a little warrior – always overcoming incredible medical issues.  However, today on her family’s blog, her father has sent up an urgent request for prayer.  She is once again being taken to the hospital with a very high temperature.  If you get a chance, please pray that this little soul can once again fight and that her family be given love, support and peace during this trying time. Her parents are the most faithful couple I have ever met.  Here is her blog if you would like to follow her story.

Here are a few of the images from the beautiful day we were able to capture with her Mom and Dad.  Her Mommy cried through most of the session because she said it was the most normal thing their family had ever done.  Needless to say, I cried through most of the session too!

Balloon Festival

The Plano Balloon Festival is this weekend and it is such an amazing weekend to go.  We all went last night and the weather was absolutely incredible! The kids had a blast and we ate lots of crap.  Sorry – there is no other word for what we ate – I think I had a combination of a hotdog, nachos (two different kinds – the movie style dip a chip nacho and some good ones with cheese and basically Taco Bell meat on top), and then I had a pound of kettle corn for dessert. Oh my goodness it was really good, but yuck!

Fashion

WOW!  I have had a crazy week!  I did five sessions this week and have wanted to shoot myself most of the week for taking that many.  I normally do not take more than 3 a week, because I know this is what I can do and still keep balance in my crazy life; however, when it rains, sessions start to pile up!  Thanks hurricane IKE! But seeing most people are dealing with way more devastation than me due to this storm, I will buck up and quit complaining! I know many of our neighbors and friends have been housing friends who were displaced due to no power etc  . . .  I hope they can go home soon – I can’t imagine what it is like not being able to go home.  One thing that has come out of that horrible storm is the amazing weather it left behind.  I can’t remember the last time we had a full week of such amazing weather.

That being said, I have totally enjoyed this weeks sessions!  WOW!  My clients have stepped it up a notch this fall season with their fashion.  I must congratulate their Mom’s – WOW!  These mom’s have shopped high and low to find the perfect outfits for their session and it shows~

Check out this precious brother and sister.  I believe sister’s outfit came from the Gap and brother’s outfit came from Janie and Jack.  This was just one of their 3 clothing changes~!  Such a fun and beautiful family!

Urban Fun (Dallas / Ft Worth Children’s Photographer)

A few days ago – when it was really hot – 95 degrees and about 95% humidity, I met one of my family’s for a downtown urban shoot.  They showed up and the kids were dressed to the nines – even the dog was part of the fun!  Yes – that is a leopard coat on a Yorkie.  Anyway – while I felt sorry for the kids – who had to be totally dying in the heat – I was, and I had on shorts and a tank top- I am thrilled with the result.  These kids are fantastic – they listened and did what I asked.  So, before you call CPS on myself and their mother for having them dressed this way in the heat, please know that we were only out shooting for 45 minutes total with clothing changes.  This family totally rocks!

Happy Birthday! (Dallas / Fort Worth Children’s Photographer)

Happy Birthday little “B.”  Another one of my baby planners aged out recently and I spent the morning this week with he and his parents.  Since his 8 month session he has developed these precious curls on his head and has become the chunkiest little pumpkin.  I just wanted to squeeze and kiss him the entire session.

Another Girl! (Dallas / Ft Worth Baby Photographer)

One of my baby planners from last year recently had a baby sister.  I am so excited, because this means, I will get to see this wonderful and beautiful family for another year.  We did baby C’s newborn session last week after a full day of rain.  Somehow we managed to venture outside in the very wet grass and get a few very precious images at the end of the session.
