Bluebonnets

Here are pictures from the next location I took my kids – a local park very close to my house.  It was deserted which was awesome – the kids and I looked for tadpoles in the stream and I got some decent bluebonnet shots that I have been wanting.  Sam lost his second tooth this week.  I feel like he is maturing each day – tonight he actually went and made his own peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  I wish I could freeze time on magical evenings like this.

After the Rain

We have had buckets of rain in North Texas.  Yesterday it rained ALL day, but around 6:45 pm the sky cleared and the most beautiful light appeared.  Well, seeing my husband has been out of town all week and my kids were absolutely stir crazy, we ventured out in the wet to get a few pictures.  There is something about the vibrancy of the fields right after a long rain – last night was no exception.  I have two different settings and I think I will post them separately.  The first is a wheat field near my house.  My kids loved exploring for bugs; however, Annabelle quickly freaked out when her tights (which she insists upon wearing every day) got wet; therefore, we had to have a change of venue.  Here are some of my favorites from the first.

Now a little pink!

Check out these lips~  This baby girl was already so beautiful!  I love getting to meet new babies all the time.  This is another one of my new baby planners.  I am so excited to get to see her change over the next year.  This little girl and I have the same name and mommy is a Sooner too – so I know I am going to love this family!

On a side note – God – please stop the rain on my shoot days!  I know this sounds selfish of me as I know you are replenishing the earth – but it is really putting a major kink in my schedule!  I have four sessions today!  I NEVER take this many in a week, but with the rain and my upcoming travels, I had to push to this week.  My motto this week is “just keep swimming, just keep swimming” Well – I have already called and cancelled my morning session – now I am just praying it clears up like it is supposed to!

Now meet the beauty who shares my name – Miss Katherine.

A Little More Blue

One of my favorite repeat families had a baby boy while I was out of town.  Because we are supposed to have lots of rain tomorrow, I went over this evening last minute to shoot him.  Apparently, they gave him a bath right before I came which he did not like.  However, the bath proved to be the best thing ever for getting a one week old baby to sleep.  He is precious to say the least.

Spring Break

Catherine Clay Photography will be closed for Spring Break!  Anica will be in the office for administrative work on Thursday, March 19th.  Emails will be returned off and on as I get access!  I am off to paradise to put my feet in the sand and read a few good books!  Hope everyone has safe travels!

The Mountains

OK – about a month ago or longer now, I went on our annual couples trip to the mountains!  It was awesome as always and everywhere we went we were asked if it was a wedding.  When else do you see 16 people being followed by a person with a very large camera.  I just said I was these beautiful people’s paparazzi and their driver too – I might add.  This year many of my friends, to my chagrin, actually took the camera from me and took pictures of me.  So yes – there are even pictures of me in the mix.  Ahhhh!  What I know about these people is this – we have all been friends for more than half of my lifetime.  I would not trade their friendships for anything in the world!  They are crazy, kind, thoughtful, and generous people who can make me laugh and cry in the same sentence.  I am very blessed to have them all!

So here is a sneak peak into my life on that one trip a year when I am with my college friends without my kids!  Wooohooo!

Baby B is 9 Months

I think I have officially lost my mind!  On this past Friday afternoon, I was answering emails in my office at home and looked out the window to see a car pull up.  I thought – hmm – I wonder who that is.  Then another car pulled up.  I started to panic – I quickly glanced at my calendar and my heart dropped – AHHHH!!!  I had totally forgotten that I had rescheduled a client session for my house on a Friday afternoon – OK – for the record, I don’t work on Fridays and rarely bring clients to my house!  In fact, it was 4 o’clock in the afternoon and I had just taken off my PJ’s about 2 hours prior, just because I had to pick up my son from school.  I figure they will probably call CPS if I show up at my son’s elementary school in my PJ’s at 3 o’clock in the afternoon!  AHHH!  Anyway – with Spring Break coming up – I had to reschedule them right away.  Small problem, my house was a disaster and my kids were home – well THANK GOD they are long time clients – this was the 8th time I have shot them – CRAZY I know!  They were totally cool and laid back about the whole situation.  We got great images – after I got a dear friend to take my kids! Thanks Ang!  I owe you big time! Here are some of the best!  They sure are some blue-eyed kids!

BIG KIDS

Big kids are so much fun – especially when they are really good kids.  My hat goes off to their parents!  They are doing an awesome job!  I heard more “Please” and “Thank you’s” in one hour than I hear in a week at my house.  Mom even left while I was shooting! These kids are not only super polite, but they are also beautiful!  Here are some of my favorite images! ENJOY!

Red, White and Blue

I LOVE RED HEADS!  I know I have said it before – but when I got out of the car and saw this little man – I think I squealed out loud!  He was precious and his Mommy was beautiful!  Anyway – we had a great time with them and here are a few of my favorites!

A Magical Session

Every now and then I get a session that I just can’t wait to come home and edit.  I had one this afternoon.  First of all – this family had one of the most amazing homes I have visited in Dallas – you see it was amazing in the sense of Mom’s style and the light in the home.  You could tell Mom and Dad who built the home had spent lots of love and thought of thinking about every detail in the home.  It was probably because she and I also have very similar design style that I feel in love the minute I walked through the front door.  I also arrived to two of the most beautiful girls who were so excited to have their pictures made.  Mom had been shopping – which I always love especially when those shopping bags read Neimans, Crew Cuts, and Kidbiz.  Here are some of my very favorite images from this session.  Did I get any of these girls smiling?  Absolutely – more than I care to mention; however, frequently a child at this age when they give me a solemn look, I find far more stunning and I can’t turn it down!
